Mark graduated with honours from the University of Toronto in 1986, and received the Raymore medal for highest standing in the 1990 Ontario registration examinations.
Mark began his career in the Northwest Territories in 1986, gaining valuable experience from remote sites and difficult logistics on institution and first Nations work, including schools, seniors’ homes, and drug and alcohol treatment centres. In 1992, Mark joined GHMA’s predecessor firm, G.R. Graham Architect, and in 1996, became a partner of Graham/Mathiasen Architects.
Mark’s professional experience includes community based and institutional projects for all levels of government. He has become particularly expert in educational projects, from daycares, to K-12 private and public schools, to post-secondary work. Mark has assisted private and public clients with projects using all delivery models, including construction management, design-build, and modular construction.
Mark gained a particular interest in building envelope and energy efficient design through his years in the far north, and received early certification in R2000 design. He is a LEED® Accredited Professional with several LEED™ Gold projects under his belt, and has completed the AIBC Building Envelope Programme.
Mark continues to serve professional and community interests by volunteering his time.
